Purple Black Lights

I have no fancy words, just pictures again today.
We changed the light on our light table and tested out these black lights we found on sale at Target. Three dollars worth of space purple fun!

Oh Lightbox, How we love thee!

So L insists (and so do I) that every "school time" activity take place on our light table. So here goes today,

"Hey Mom, look at my catepigar (catepillar)!"

We did so many more activities but in the midst of having so much fun it's hard to remember to snap the pictures.

Happy Birthday to our beloved Nene!

We decided a homemade gift could only be the right gift for our Nene and so the plans were elaborate but being an amateur crayon melter, our end product was this.

Maybe we'll attempt this again at Christmas Nene.

We hope you had the best birthday ever!

Light & Sand

We have officially hit the jackpot of Light Box creations. SAND!!
I cannot begin to describe the fun we had with this so I'll just post pictures.

Storyboard & Exploring Colors

Today's "school time" as L likes to call it consisted of some more light box fun. We just can't get enough of our light box! We put together our first story board, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I cut out images of the book from this PDF here, laminated them (because L has an obsession with crinkling and ruining things, and I have an obsession with laminating things) and cut them out again. And there you have it story board! I read the story and she follows along on the story board.

We also had to cook for our caterpillar (L is obsessed with "cooking" for everyone)

We knew it was time to move on to the next project when the silliness began, but the silliness is always alot of fun too!

Exploring Colors!
This was so much fun. I've hoarded enough things to make crafts out of just about anything. This is a plastic egg carton, an old baby medicine dispenser and colored water.

We later moved onto to colored vinegar and baking soda to get some really cool fun out of it.

And of course we had to do it on our light table because well we're just obsessed!!

Our New Light Box

So the whole reason behind this blogging adventure is this,

And no it is not merely a box with wires coming out of it... It is the best thing that has happened to L and I since well since she was born. Maybe a little exaggerated but Hey! we're really excited about this.

For those of you who might not know what this is, it is a Light Box! It does seem too simple of a thing to actually be this excited over but I promise it really is that great!

If your wondering what it is we do with this thing that we have fallen so in love with.

Take a peak...

and some more light box fun...
(Ours just so happens to fit perfectly over our Ikea LATT table!)

For those of you who might be wondering how it was constructed or maybe you'd like one for yourself and your little one (and I do include you in that because trust me you will have just as much fun as they will!) here is a quick breakdown.

I actually didn't build this, would have loved to, have all the drawings to prove it and none of the skills. A co-worker of mine built it and gave it to us. Thank God he has such a kind heart and great skills as well.

It is basically constructed from:
an 18in x 24in frosted acrylic sheet (plexiglass)
1 x 4 pieces of wood
3 round under cabinet lights (we're changing ours to strips because the round lights are too focused and don't distribute the light evenly.) Here's what we'll be using instead.
If your interested in the step by step process please comment and I'll be happy to answer.

This is a great link at Modern Parents Messy Kids.
These are mini ones.
And this one is made from a tupper ware box.

We'll be posting some of the other fun things we plan to do with our new toy in the next coming weeks!
